FAQs

Is my project a good fit for offshore printing?

Not all print jobs are suitable to print overseas. Less labour intensive and lower quantity jobs are usually not economical due to fixed custom and port fees. Generally the higher the unit cost, the better it is to print offshore. Project such as Catalogues, multi-page booklets, packaging and any project that requires an element of hand finishing are sure to be a good fit. Let us know when you have a project on the horizon and we can help you determine if it will be cost effective to print in Asia.

How is the printing quality?

The quality is superb. In many instances, you'll see the quality is even better than what you're getting now. Our printers are using the same high quality printing, bindery and prepress equipment and our advantage is that all processes are conducted under the same roof.

What types of paper can I get for my print job?

Our international print partners stock a wide selection of "house papers" ranging from gloss coated to Matt coated to uncoated paper and artboard. These papers are manufactured locally in China and are able to pass along cost savings to our customers. You may also bring your paper sample and we’ll show you the closest match from our range of specialty stock.

What artwork format do you accept.

We only accept print ready PDF files. Before we forward your artwork to the factory we will perform our PRE PRESS ANALYSIS. We will send you this analysis, along with our recommendations, if the artwork does not meet our print ready requirements. We will only forward the artwork to the factory once all the pre requisites are meet or you provide us approval to proceed as is.

How do I proof my print project prior to giving final approval?

There are a number of proofing options available – Laser proofs, Low res screen proofs or machine proof are available. If we are working to a tight deadline we recommend a Low res screen proof or a Laser proof. If you have the timeframe, we can provide you a press proof. Please be aware that all proofs are provided for you to check if all text, images and placement are correct. Exact colour matching can not be guaranteed from the proof to the completed job.

How will last minute changes be handled?

If last minute changes are minor such as spelling, etc, we can fix the change without any additional fees and delays to your print schedule. Otherwise, we can complete the change for a fee, which will be pre-quoted. If the change occurs after the proof is made, then we'll re supply a proof, of the revised sections, to ensure everything is correct and approved before it goes to press. Once the client signs off on the final proof, no changes can be made from that point forward.

How is my project Press Checked?

Again, this depends on your project. Our print partners have highly skilled quality managers that take the press check stage very seriously. That’s why we are partners with them. However, we also have an independent quality organisation that can be present to over see the press check if you require. They will provide us with a comprehensive press check report. This does cost a bit extra, but if your project is large, we recommend that you consider this service. If your project is suitable, we can also fly a representative of Swann Printing to the factory to perform the press check.

How can I be confident that my print project is right before it leaves the factory?

Prior to your project leaving the factory we receive a quality report filled out by the Factory’s quality Manager. Your project only will be shipped once we approve the report. We can also send in our quality control consultant to perform a pre shipment inspection. This obviously comes at a cost however, if your project is large, we recommend you consider this option.

What is the average delivery time for a project?

Since each project is different, production and printing time can vary. You'll receive the proof average one week after the submission of the final files. Upon proof approval, production will take around 2 weeks. If your project is urgent, we recommend a partial or whole shipment via air, shipping time is as little as 2 - 3 days. However, if you decided to ship via ocean freight, it will take 3 weeks, however, the saving will be tremendous compare to shipping entirely via air.
